Some models of Android smartphone (including but not limited to some Samsung, Google Pixel, or Motorola phones) won't connect to BA-Access even after a user enters their student, faculty, staff, or family number and 10+ character wireless password. In most cases, this is because the Android phone needs additional settings to be configured before it will work:

  1. Open the Network or Wifi Settings: This usually means opening the Settings app on the phone, then selecting Network or Wifi.
  2. Select the BA-Access Network and Join: Most of the time this can be selected from a list of networks that automatically appear.
  3. On the Settings Screen, Enter the Following Parameters: (These may be in a different order depending on the phone, and not all phones have all these settings)
    1. Security: Select 802.1X or 802.1X EAP
    2. EAP Method: Select PEAP
    3. Phase 2 Authentication: Select MSCHAPV2
    4. Certificate Settings: Select DO NOT VALIDATE
    5. Anonymous Identity: Leave Blank
    6. Identity: Put your STU/FAC/STA/FAM number in under Username and your 10+ character wireless password under Password.
    7. Save your changes

After you've completed these steps, try joining BA-Access again. If it asks you to accept a certificate, go ahead and accept it.

If it still won't join BA-Access:

  • Verify your username (your STU, FAC, STA, or FAM number) is correct.
  • Verify your password. On most Android phones, you can select Show Password and actually see the password you've entered. Make certain no one can look over your shoulder before revealing your password.
  • Check to see if any system updates are available (you may need to connect to the BA-Guest network or use cellular data to download updates).
  • Restart your phone and try again.
